Berlin, 6 November 2018 – Every year, the annual ITB Book Awards recognise the latest and most interesting publications from Germany and abroad, mainly written in German, but also in German translation. In the run-up to ITB Berlin 2019 Martina Kraus, geography expert and manager of Friedrichshafen bookstore RavensBuch, and a member of the jury, picked two outstanding travel calendars. “Featuring photographs which are almost from another world and breathtaking wildlife images, the National Geographic wall calendars Magic Moments 2019 and Wildlife 2019 (both of which are available from teNeues, Calendars & Stationery) represent a magic collection of beauty from a world that must be protected and preserved. It is this philosophy of raising awareness for and preserving the environment that characterises this calendar from the National Geographic Society,“ was how she commented her choice. Together with other prizes which will be given out by the jury, the Calendar Awards will be presented on Friday, 8 March 2019 at 4 p.m. at the Palais am Funkturm, Messe Berlin at ITB Berlin, the World’s Leading Travel Trade Show. In her role as juror at the ITB Book Awards, Martina Kraus also chose another calendar in the category ‘Frankfurt Book Fair Guest of Honour 2019 – Norway’. Her choice was the ’Norwegen Exklusivkalender 2019’ (a limited edition is available from 360° medien). According to Martina Kraus it “features stunning motifs in Norway captured by the professional filmmakers and photographers Petra and Gerhard Zwerger-Schoner and paints an impressive picture of this colourful travel destination.“ This Calendar Award will be presented in October 2019 at the ceremony for the ‘Frankfurt Book Fair Guest of Honour’ winners at the pavilion of the guest nation at the Frankfurt Book Fair . The aim of the ITB Book Awards is to focus attention beyond national borders on the broad spectrum of important travel and tourism publications. ITB Berlin is collaborating with Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels. At the Frankfurt Book Fair the jury of the ITB Book Awards will also honour the winners in the category ’Frankfurt Book Fair Guest of Honour’. The ITB Book Awards does not confer money prizes.
